Crafting with Boxes for Halloween Costumes

What are you going to be for Halloween?

I have always been a fan of creating costumes.  It is a great opportunity to let your creative juices flow and spend some time with the family!  Visiting your local thrift-shop to find outfits that match your character's theme is not only frugal, it is fun!  You can reuse and re-purpose household items for a mask or accessories.  We love to work with old boxes from deliveries and have even used specialty sized boxes from our office to create different parts of a costume. We have created emojis, app logos of our favorite social media platforms, cars, and characters from our favorite movies from boxes.

Our home office has even created a step-by-step DIY box costume tutorial: DIY Halloween Box Costumes.

Pinterest is also a fantastic way to get some ideas going.  There are many boards dedicated to the construction of costumes from cardboard.  DIY Cardboard Costume

Once you decide what you want to create- You will need to gather the following supplies:
Box cutter*
Hot glue gun
Boxes of various sizes
Acrylic paint
Craft notions: buttons, pompoms, glitter, etc.

*Use caution when using a box cutter- always have the sharp edge pointed away from yourself and cut in a downward motion.

Stop in our office to pick up the boxes you need for your very own DIY Box Costume!
